The Korean Journal of Art History has grown into an academic journal with a history and tradition of 60 years since its inception in 1960. The purpose of the publication of this journal is to lead the level of research in the academic world by presenting new research achievements in the field of Korean art history, and to share and provide the latest research information that has been strictly verified. For this purpose, in order to develop into a journal that publishes more diverse topics, the journal publishes papers written in Korean and foreign languages by encouraging the participation of specialists of Korean art active abroad as well as domestic art historians. Thereby the Korean Journal of Art History has gained international recognition. It has been widely used and cited by diverse groups of scholars, and has helped domestic researchers achieve international recognition. The journal is published quarterly, and we operate a rigorous review process for all submitted papers to ensure quality excellence, thereby enhancing the academic value of the journal.

The scope of this journal covers Korean art history as well as Asian art from ancient times to modern times, and the published topics encompass various subfields of art history including paintings, sculptures, crafts, and architecture. To this end, it is accepting research papers that adopt the latest methodologies as well as the classical methodologies such as analyses of style and iconography. In other words, the journal promotes recent research methods such as interdisciplinary research, and cross-cultural research, and comparative research. In particular, the journal advances the academic quality of its papers by organizing conferences on important academic issues to offer opportunities for scholars to present related papers and to publish their subsequent achievements.
